FIH Hockey Pro League: India Go Down to the Netherlands on Penalties

After conceding a goal in Q1, India fought back hard to level the score at 1-1 through their captain Hardik Singh in the 38th minute. However, India went down 2-4 on penalties as the Netherlands claimed a valuable bonus point.

For the second time in as many games, India held the Netherlands to a 1-1 draw after 60 minutes in the FIH Hockey Pro League. However, this time around, Krishna Bahadur Pathak could not emulate the heroics of PR Sreejesh as India went down 2-4 on penalties.

Though Pathak did make one save, it was nullified as Shamsher Singh and Sukhjeet Singh both missed their shots and the Netherlands grabbed a bonus point. After taking an early lead in the fourth minute the Dutch dominated possession for long periods in the game. However, India did not panic as they soaked in the pressure and hit on the counter-attack. India managed to equalise through a penalty corner from Hardik Singh in the 38th minute.

India will look to build on their positive showing against the Dutch when they take on Australia next.
