Hockey India unveiled the 24-member Indian Men’s Hockey Team set to compete in the FIH Hockey Pro League 2023-24, scheduled across Antwerp, Belgium, and London, England.
The action-packed journey kicks off with the Belgium leg from May 22nd to May 30th, followed by the England leg running from June 1st to June 12th. India will face off against Argentina, Belgium, Germany, and Great Britain in a series of matchups, starting their campaign against Argentina on May 22nd. Currently holding the 3rd position in the points table, India boasts 15 points from eight matches.
Leading the charge is Captain Harmanpreet Singh, with dynamic midfielder Hardik Singh serving as his deputy. Goalkeeping duties rest with PR Sreejesh and Krishan Bahadur Pathak, while the defensive lineup includes Jarmanpreet Singh, Amit Rohidas, Harmanpreet Singh, Sumit, Sanjay, Jugraj Singh, and Vishnukant Singh.
The midfield section features key players like Vivek Sagar Prasad, Nilakanta Sharma, Manpreet Singh, Shamsher Singh, Hardik Singh, Rajkumar Pal, and Mohd. Raheel Mouseen. In the forward line, the team banks on Mandeep Singh, Abhishek, Sukhjeet Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Gurjant Singh, Akashdeep Singh, Araijeet Singh Hundal, and Boby Singh Dhami.
Chief Coach Craig Fulton expressed confidence in the team’s preparedness, emphasizing the significance of facing top-quality opponents ahead of the Paris Olympics. Captain Harmanpreet Singh echoed the sentiment, expressing anticipation for the upcoming challenges and hoping for favorable outcomes.
