FC Barcelona has been in great form this season. The Blaugranes have been on a seven-match unbeaten streak in all competitions. Under Hansi Flick, the side are playing more direct and fluidly. They have scored the most goals in the top 5 leagues in Europe. In just 16 games into 2024/25, the team has already notched up 55 goals. The front three of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Lamine Yamal have been unstoppable.
The Polish striker has once again found his goal-scoring boot. He is currently the top scorer in La Liga with 14 goals and joint most in the UEFA Champions League this season with his tally being 5. However, his exceptional form will lead him to a fourth year at Barcelona, as his current deal is extended if he plays at least 45 minutes in half of their games this season.
Robert Lewandowski has openly stated that he feels he still has two or three years at the highest level, and Flick agrees. The Blaugrana coach believes Lewandowski can do it again next year, and that he may have enough in his legs to play a fifth year at Barcelona when he is 38. Club President Joan Laporta was keen on bringing a marquee signing however, they did not after seeing the form of the veteran striker.
FC Barcelona will destroy young strikers
Another big signing or bust for the Catalonian club? Sporting Director Deco is concerned about depending only on the Polish attacker. His goal is to hunt for a forward to join next summer. It would be a player who could complement Lewandowski and allow him to rest when necessary, as well as the other members of the front three.
FC Barcelona does not want to spend much money until a great possibility arises. Lille’s Jonathan David, who is available for free in January, is one alternative that they are closely monitoring. He has been in excellent form this season. However, does this mean the loss of faith in youth talent? Barca already has Pau Victor, he was last season’s best scorer for Barca Atletic.
Then he signed a permanent deal for €2.7 million, and he was the star of their preseason. Pau was scoring freely. However, his contributions have been minimal since then. With only 173 minutes and one start in which he scored. Another possibility is that Victor’s function would be diminished further, or that he would be replaced entirely.
