FC Barcelona Paying The Price For Over Rushing Yamal And Lewandowski

FC Barcelona’s 7-game unbeaten run came to an end. They lost 1-0 to Real Sociedad on Sunday. Hansi Flick’s side was shocked against a high-pressing Sociedad team. They have been dominating in La Liga this season with 11 wins and 2 losses in 13 games. Once they have failed to score on Sunday in the league so far. However, in a long season like this, it will happen the teams will falter in some games.

But the injuries have struck the Catalonian side once again. Two star forwards Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal have picked up injuries that have ruled them out of the international break, the La Liga leaders said Monday. The former suffered a back injury in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at the San Sebastian. The teenager however will be out for two to three weeks, he missed the weekend’s game as well.

The 17-year-old will miss Spain’s fixtures against Denmark on Thursday and Switzerland on Monday, as well as Barcelona’s trip to Vigo. Barca has lost all of their matches without Yamal. This shows his importance in the side and the impact he creates on the field at such a young age. He is also a doubt for the home Champions League game against Brest on November 26.

FC Barcelona’s squad depth in question

Is Barca over-rushing Lamine Yamal? Lamine Yamal will also miss the following La Liga meeting with Las Palmas. The Spanish winger has six goals in 15 games this season, whereas Lewandowski has 17 in all competitions and is now La Liga’s top striker. Barcelona is sixth in the Champions League, with nine points. The Catalans lead Real Madrid by six points in La Liga but have played one more game.

The 36-year-old will miss Poland’s forthcoming Nations League games against Portugal and Scotland, but he should be available for Barcelona’s next league game against Celta Vigo on November 23. Their high-risk, high-reward game will have some backlash, but in crucial games, they surely will come out better and win the matches. Hansi Flick will surely make the boys do well after the international break and win the games.
