England have lost yet another major final on Sunday. The Three Lions lost the final against Spain in the UEFA Euro 2024. Despite qualifying in back-to-back finals of the major event they failed to win the silverware. Gareth Southgate’s side lost 2-1 at Berlin. The La Roja claimed their 4th Euro title and became the first team to do so.
The star-studded English squad with likes of Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden, and Bukayo Saka failed to achieve the winner’s medal in Germany. They are one of the best sides coming to the tournament and being the favourites they had to struggle to make their way to the tournament’s final. The struggles were shown as Spain pounced on their chances and won the game. Since taking on the team’s managerial role, Southgate has not done enough to win a major tournament.
Kane has not won a single trophy in his career. He remains the most cursed footballer of all time. The star striker with his prolific scoring ability has not been able to earn a single major silverware for club and country. The Bayern Munich striker ended the German Giants’s 11-year streak of winning the Bundesliga. The Bavarians failed to win any trophy since he joined the club.
Harry Kane: The cursed man for clubs and England
With 11 match winners in the side, Southgate still failed in back-to-back finals. First against Italy in the 2020 edition at home stadium Wembley. This time at the Olympistadion, Berlinn. Once again it was proved wrong that the best team on paper does not always win trophies. Football is a team game and the best chemistry and bonding of the team leads to winning the trophy.
The Three Lions being the best team on paper failed to achieve the winner’s medal. The side was brought down against a youthful, well-organised, and energetic side with bags of flair and also a ruthless streak. Spain was excellent throughout the tournament and their fluidity in the attacking third was amazing. They created space inside the box and took the opportunity to find the back of the net.
