East Bengal Lacks The Winning Mentality To Compete In The ISL

East Bengal FC (EBFC) has been underperforming in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2024/25 season. They are currently placed at the bottom of the table with zero points. Despite making a team that can finish at the top 4 of the table the side still needs to perform as per the fans’ expectations. The team’s head coach Carles Cuadrat has mutually terminated the contract and left the club.

Interim head coach Bino George started his first match on the sidelines. However, the fortunes did not change for East Bengal. Despite taking 30 shots in the game they lost the match 2-0 against Jamshedpur FC (JFC). It was all East Bengal in the first half except for the 30-yard strike from Rei Tachikawa. The Red and Gold created the chances time after time but failed to convert them.

The fans are furious with certain decision-making of the Santosh Trophy-winning coach. Despite having young guns on the bench and the more fitter players of the reserve side he manages in the Calcutta Football League. He went on to start with Cleiton Silva and Nandhakumar Sekhar. The two footballers are nowhere near their best of forms. That was seen on the pitch after the two missed some big sitters inside the box.

East Bengal team needs to be relegated

Is there any contractual clause that the players who are underperforming start well ahead of the young brigade? East Bengal was the top spender in the transfer market, splurging Rs. 5.8 crore to sign Jeakson Singh and Anwar Ali. It also brought in highly regarded international players Dimitrios Diamantakos, Madih Talal, and Hector Yuste. Talal was excellent last night he was the one who created the chances for the Red and Gold Brigade.

The Super Cup champions had everything in their favour, a penalty, possession, and attacking play, except for the goal. They needed the international break more than any team in the league. Bino has the belief that the team could still finish in the top 6. However, the fans are furious and feeling hopeless with the side’s continuous dismal performance.
