East Bengal FC have got their 6th consecutive loss in the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) 2024/25 season. This is their 8 back-to-back loss across all competitions this season. Despite the change of the head coach, the result has not been in their favour. Oscar Bruzon has just two training sessions with the side so far. He cannot be blamed for how the team has played against Odisha on Tuesday.
The Spanish coach has been straightforward: This team missed a lot of chances on Tuesday. Otherwise, the team would have been 2-0 up within 10 minutes of the game. Despite having one of the best sides on paper, the team has yet to perform as a unit. They are at the bottom of the table with zero points in the 6 games played. The team will need to buckle before anything more goes wrong.
Bruzon must find the right combination and the footballers must deliver and understand that the club they are playing for is not ordinary. The fans are furious with the footballers and before they start protesting or boycotting the team needs to be back to winning ways. East Bengal’s fitness is the question the team has been zero in fitness so far. With a new fitness coach, the work has been started.
East Bengal will find their first win in the AFC
Will East Bengal find their lost momentum back? They do not have much of the time. Three AFC Challenge League matches have been lined up for the side in Bhutan. Looking at the team’s fitness it is really difficult for them to survive 90 minutes at a higher altitude, where the game will be much more difficult for the side. Already they had the reality check in the game against Shillong Lajong in the Durand Cup.
Their opening game will be against the Bhutanese club Paro FC, with next in line being Oscar’s former club Bashundhara Kings and then Nejmeh SC. East Bengal would like to win all the matches and get back in the winning ways to qualify for the next round of the Asian tournament. One win can change the dynamics of the side and get the best out of the footballers.
