The state-level school volleyball tournament in Dharashiv, organized by the District Sports Officer’s office, will take place from October 15-17 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Secondary Higher Secondary School. It features boys and girls under 19, with 16 teams from eight state divisions competing. Over 350 participants, including players, coaches, and officials, are involved. The tournament will also select the Maharashtra U-19 boys and girls volleyball teams for national competitions.
Dr. Sachin Ombase, Dharashiv District Collector, and Dr. Mainak Ghosh, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad, will inaugurate the event. Yuvraj Naik, Deputy Director of Sports, Latur Division, and Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Awardee Ankush Patil, alongside other officials, will attend. Rajkumar Divte, Rajkumar Dahihande, Ravindra Jangawali, and Girjappa Dahihande are among the prominent attendees. District Volleyball Association Patron Manthappa Palne and Rajarshi Shahu of the Education Broadcasting Board will serve as chief guests.
The event will also feature President Sasikalatai Ghogere, Vice President Avinashrao Deshmukh, and Working President MD Deshmukh. Secretary Dhananjay Patil and District Sports Officer Shrikant Harnale will also be present. The selection committee of 5 members appointed by the state government’s sports department will select the Maharashtra state team from this school-level volleyball tournament.
Maharashtra to dominate in volleyball state level
They will select the Maharashtra state volleyball team. The Maharashtra U-19 boys’ team will compete in the national tournament held in Telangana, and the U-19 girls’ team will compete in Andhra Pradesh. Sports Officers BK Naikwadi, Kailas Latke, and Akshay Biradar played key roles in organizing the volleyball tournament. Sports Guides Dimple Thackeray and Shubhangi Rokde contributed significantly to the event’s success.
Sachin Palne, Secretary of the Dharashiv District Volleyball Association, actively coordinated the tournament. Joint Secretary Sanjay Deshmukh and Principal PN Patil from Chhatrapati Shivaji High School were also instrumental in the event’s planning. Their combined efforts ensured the tournament was successfully organized for all participating teams.
