Indian archer Deepika Kumari has made it clear that she will not retire until she wins an Olympic medal. The experienced archer has failed to impress in the multinational event. She ranked way behind in the Women’s Singles Event. The Paris Olympics was her fourth consecutive Olympics. She returned to the game after becoming a mother in December 2022.
She won an individual gold medal at the Shanghai World Cup in April after topping the national selection trials. But she could not make an impression in the Paris Olympics. In the women’s category, Deepika was considered a contender and made a strong start to reach the quarterfinals. But even after taking the lead in the last eight matches, Deepika had to face defeat. There were speculations of her hanging up the career. But she has dropped a massive statement after failing in the Olympics.
Deepika, who has failed in four consecutive Olympics, said that she will not quit the sport until she wins a medal in the Olympics. Multi-time World Cup-winning veteran archer Deepika is confident of reaching the podium at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Until she wins a medal it will never be an end to her glorious career.
Deepika Kumari to fight in next Olympics
Deepika said, “Obviously, I want to play more in the future and will continue my game. I really want to win an Olympic medal, and I won’t quit until I achieve that. I’ll train harder and come back strongly.” She has achieved every other medal except an Olympic medal. She thinks its an unjust if she fails to earn a medal for the nation at the biggest stages.
“Firstly, I will present myself more strongly. There are many things, like quick shooting, that I need to learn a bit more about, and it’s very important to train myself accordingly. What I learned from the Olympics is that late shooting doesn’t work; you have no room to make big mistakes, so you have to control that. I will learn that from here
