Virat Kohli Cannot Match Sachin Tendulkar’s Legacy

Virat Kohli has once disappointed his and Indian cricket team fans. The former India captain’s struggles against Australia’s bowlers continued as his innings ended early on Day 3 of the Brisbane Test. Dismissed for just three runs by Josh Hazlewood.  After posting 445 runs on the board, Australia has taken four Indian wickets early and has put them under immense pressure. At the end of Day 3, the score is 51/4.

For the nth time, Virat Kohli walked out to chase a delivery far beyond the off stump. Josh Hazlewood drew him into a trap, and Kohli edged one to wicketkeeper Alex Carey. Kohli, who did not appear to be at ease in the crease, went for a drive and became Hazlewood’s first victim on his return from missing the pink-ball Test. The 36-year-old managed just three runs from 16 balls.

This was the 11th time Hazlewood had dismissed him in international cricket. This was Kohli’s third low score in a row. He left for seven and eleven in the pink-ball Test at Adelaide Oval. The second innings of the Perth Test saw him score his first century of the year. Meanwhile, Kohli’s Test average versus Australia is considerably below 50. He has scored 123 runs from five innings in the tour so far.

Virat Kohli’s Off-Stump Struggles Exposed

With an average of 30.75. During the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, he was caught behind the wicketkeeper or in the slip cordon four times. This is not a new challenge for Kohli; he has been struggling with this line for a long time. However, in recent times, it has grown more apparent, and teams have attempted to capitalise even further. The pitch of the delivery was around the sixth or seventh stump line.

Sunil Gavaskar has slammed Virat Kohli, he said, “If it was on the fourth stump I could understand. This was wide, on the seventh, eighth stump, you could say. There’s no need to play that. He’d be very, very disappointed, he’d be very upset with that.  If Kohli had shown a bit of patience he could be not out with KL Rahul.”
