Jasprit Bumrah has the joint-highest rating points of any Test bowler in Indian history. Following another outstanding effort in the third match of the ICC World Test Championship series against Australia in Brisbane. After his 9 for 94 in the third Test against the Kangaroos, he now has the joint-highest rating points of any Indian bowler in the rankings. The Indian speedster already heads the rankings list for bowlers.
Jasprit Bumrah extended his lead by 14 points, bringing his total to 904 rating points, 48 ahead of second-placed Kagiso Rabada (856). The only other Indian bowler to reach this milestone is the recently retired R Ashwin, who did it following the fourth Test against England in Mumbai in December 2016. Bumrah, who is now the greatest wicket-taker in the five-match Border-Gavaskar Series with 21 scalps in six innings at 10.90.
The 31-year-old has the opportunity to beat Ashwin’s record when the two nations meet in Melbourne for the Boxing Day Test, with the series tied 1-1. Mohammed Siraj inched up one place to 24th. Pat Cummins is in the 4th place on the list, with Nathan Lyon also there in the top 10 list. The list is with three Indian bowlers and three Australia.
Pakistan dominates in rankings
Travis Head of Australia continues his spectacular rise in the ICC Test Batters Rankings, moving up to fourth place with 825 points. The dynamic left-hander wowed in the ongoing series against India, scoring a thrilling 152 at the Gabba to follow up his century in Adelaide. While Head is catching up, England’s Joe Root (895) and Harry Brook (876), together with New Zealand’s Kane Williamson (867).
They continue to maintain the top three spots. Meanwhile, Steve Smith’s dominant century at the Gabba has moved him back into the top ten, indicating his revival. Heinrich Klaasen’s three back-to-back fifties against Pakistan have moved him up eight slots in the ODI batting rankings, from 13th to fifth. Opener Saim Ayub, had a breakthrough series against South Africa, scoring 109, 25, and 101 as Pakistan swept the series 3-0.
