In a dramatic turn of events during the Cape Town Test match, Team India clinched victory against South Africa, leveling the series at 1-1.
However, South African head coach Shukri Conrad stirred controversy by deeming the Newlands pitch as “poor” and suggesting India’s win relied more on luck than skill.
Expressing his dissatisfaction, Conrad remarked, “I don’t know what people want me to say. One and a half days test match. How they chase down 79 runs remains to be seen.
It’s a sad situation when you need luck more than skill. All morals and values in Test cricket are gone, everyone knows that the wicket is not good.”
He extended sympathy towards Newlands chief curator Bram Mong, acknowledging him as a good curator but attributing the pitch’s condition to mistakes. Conrad stated, “Sometimes even good curators do bad things or make mistakes.
That doesn’t make him a useless field worker. He will learn a lot. He also wanted to do well but he made this wicket more than necessary.”
Team India’s win in the Cape Town Test reflects their adaptability, showcasing skill in challenging conditions.
