Vinesh Phogat has been a sensation in India. The Wrestler was knocked out of the final for being overweight right before the final of the Paris Olympics 2024. She was disqualified for gaining 100 grams of weight before the final round. An appeal was filed with the Arbitration of Sports. However, Phogat’s appeal was dismissed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
She created a new history after reaching the final in the 50 kg weight category at the Paris Olympics. But failed to perform in the main event. There was a lot of controversy about her being overweight despite surprising World No.1 Yui Susaki in the first round, she advanced to the quarter-finals and semi-finals, becoming the first Indian woman to reach an Olympic wrestling final.
The wrestler, who had been perfectly weighed in her previous three bouts, gained 2kg in just one day leading up to the final. There was some kind of conspiracy that may occurred just 24 hours before she played the final. There is a perfect love story between controversy and the former Wrestler. She has recently retired after she failed in the Olympics. However, the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) served a whereabouts notice to wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat for failing to be present at the location for her dope test.
NADA to punish Vinesh Phogat
Athletes registered with NADA’s Registered Testing Pool (RTP), including Vinesh, must provide information about their availability for doping tests, as well as the place where they will be present for sample collection. The athlete’s failure to appear at the predetermined site for sample collection for the dope test triggers a whereabouts notice.
According to reports, Vinesh Phogat stated that on September 9th. She would be at her home in Kharkhoda village, Sonepat, where NADA will take her sample. According to NADA’s warning, Vinesh Phogat failed to appear at the place for the dope test. NADA has delivered the notice to Phogat; nevertheless, action is unlikely in this case. To be sanctioned by NADA, an athlete must fail to appear for a dope test three times within 12 months. This appears to be Phogat’s initial failure.
