Chiplun’s Krish Kalkutaki Clinches Bronze in National School Squash Tournament Against All Odds

Despite the absence of squash court facilities in Chiplun, Krish Kalkutaki showcased his exceptional talent by securing a bronze medal in the National School Squash Tournament. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and skill of Chiplun’s squash players.

The 67th National School Squash Tournament, organized by the School Games Federation of India, Directorate of Sports and Youth Services Maharashtra State Pune, and Maharashtra Squash Academy Pune, took place at Maharashtra Squash Academy and Evolve Squash Court, NIBM Road, Undri, Pune.

In this national competition, the Maharashtra Under 19 boys’ team, featuring Krish Kalkutaki, clinched the third position. Krish, representing Shailaja Shinde Junior College, Pedhambe, displayed remarkable sportsmanship along with his teammates, securing the coveted team bronze medal.

Krish’s journey in squash has been marked by consistent achievements. In the 2019 National School Squash Tournament, he secured the second position in the under 14 age group. Additionally, he earned the third position in the state-level school squash competition held in 2022. Krish also clinched a silver medal in the mixed doubles category at the Maharashtra Mini Olympics last year.

Remarkably, Krish accomplished these feats despite practicing and honing his skills in adverse conditions, where there were no squash courts available for practice. The triumph in the National School Squash Tournament adds another significant accolade to his already impressive list of achievements.

While Krish’s success is commendable, some argue that the lack of proper infrastructure for squash in certain regions hinders the potential growth of exceptional talents like Krish Kalkutaki.
