In a remarkable achievement, Sumit Borade and Shrutkirti Khalate, hailing from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, have secured spots in the Maharashtra team for the National School Judo Tournament. Their success stems from stellar performances in the Under 17 and 19 school state-level judo competition, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Services and District Sports Officer Sangli.
Representing the MIDC Valaj’s Smt. Parameshwari Dewani Judo Training Center, both athletes showcased exceptional skills, securing five medals, including a gold and three bronze medals. The gold medalists, Sumit Borade from Bhimashankar Padalkar Junior College and Shrutkirti Khalate from Orchid Techno School, have rightfully earned their spots in the prestigious Maharashtra team for the upcoming National School Judo Tournament.
Under the guidance of dedicated coaches such as Bhimraj Rahane, Ashok Jangme, Sudhir Katkar, Shailesh Kawle, Rituja Saudagar, and Supriya Jangme, these athletes have honed their judo prowess.
Acknowledging their outstanding achievements, various dignitaries and sports officials, including State Judo Association Technical Committee Secretary Datta Afhale, District Sports Officer Bajirao Desai, and District Association President Ajit Mule, extended their congratulations and best wishes.
The medal-winning athletes include gold medalists Sumit Borade and Shrutkirti Khalate, along with bronze medalists Riya Patil, Rishikesh Ghuge, and Rishikesh Pund. This success not only reflects the talent nurtured at the grassroots level but also highlights the effectiveness of training programs and dedicated coaching in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
