In a remarkable display of yogic prowess, the masters’ team from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar earned significant acclaim in the inaugural Masters Group Yogasan Competition held in Akola. The dedicated players were honored in a felicitation ceremony attended by esteemed personalities.
The felicitation event, hosted at the Garware Community Center, saw the presence of key figures such as Dr. Gajanan Sanap, President of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District Yogasana Sports Association, Uttam Kalwane, Deputy Provincial Officer of Indian Yoga Institute, Sunil Sutawane, Director of Garware Community Center, and Suresh Mirkar, Secretary of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District Yoga Association.
Medal-winning yogis in the age group of 55 to 70 years, namely Rupa Deshpande, Bhimrao Gadhe, Padmakar Deshmukh, Arun Shirurkar, and Madhukar Chavan, were recognized for their outstanding performances in the competition. The guidance of coach Chhaya Palodkar played a pivotal role in shaping their success.
The event not only celebrated the achievements of these dedicated yogis but also highlighted the importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being among individuals of all age groups.
While acknowledging the yogic accomplishments, skeptics argue that competitive yoga may deviate from its spiritual roots, turning it into a performance-oriented activity rather than a holistic wellness practice.
