Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Duo Clinches Gold at National School Chess Championship, Maharashtra Bags Team Title

Chess enthusiasts Sani Deshpande and Shruti Kale from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar secured gold in the Under 17 category at the National School Chess Tournament held in Vellore (Chennai). The Maharashtra team, featuring Anushka Kutwal, Shruti Kale, Sani Deshpande, Eshwari Jagdale, and Aditi Kayal, emerged victorious in the team competition.

The top-seeded Maharashtra squad displayed remarkable prowess throughout the tournament, clinching victories in the initial three rounds. Facing opponents like Madhya Pradesh, CIS, and Tamil Nadu, the team asserted its dominance. Despite a draw against Kerala in the fifth round, they sealed the title by defeating Karnataka in the final round.

Under the guidance of coach Uday Vagare, the Maharashtra team showcased strategic brilliance and unity. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Chess Association President and State Cabinet Minister Atul Save, along with Secretary Hemendra Patel, extended heartfelt congratulations to the players, wishing them continued success.
