Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Dominates Opening Day of Maha Basketball State Championship

In a dazzling kick-off to the Maha Basketball State Championship, Chhatrapati
Sambhajinagar emerged triumphant in both the men’s and women’s categories on the
tournament’s inaugural day. The event, jointly organized by the Maha Basketball
Association, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District Basketball Association, and MSM Basketball
Sports Association, witnessed intense competition at the basketball court of Dr. Babasaheb
Ambedkar Marathwada University.

A total of 42 teams from across Maharashtra, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar,
Amravati, Raigad, Dhule, Pune, Washim, Ahmednagar, Nagpur, and Nanded, showcased
their prowess in the tournament, setting the stage for a thrilling championship.
The official inauguration, led by the university’s sports director Sandeep Jagtap, marked the
beginning of the highly anticipated event. Dignitaries such as Dr. Dhananjay Verfukar,
President of Maha Basketball Association, Shiv Chhatrapati Awardee and Secretary
Shatrughan Gokhale, Treasurer Jayant Deshmukh, and International Basketball Umpire
Amar Kande graced the occasion.

In an electrifying men’s match, the host Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district secured their
first tournament victory by defeating Dhule with a close scoreline of 84-82 baskets. The
women’s team from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar also clinched a thrilling win against
Amravati with a margin of 20-17 baskets, marking a memorable start to their campaign.
Other notable results from the men’s group include Amravati’s dominant 43-04 win against
Palghar, Raigad’s triumph over Akola with a score of 45-26, and Pune’s convincing 57-39
victory over Satara. In the women’s category, Ahmednagar emerged victorious against
Jalgaon with a scoreline of 42-36, while Nagpur dominated Jalgaon with an impressive 50-09
win.
With 42 teams in contention, the Maha Basketball State Championship promises to deliver
