In a thrilling encounter at Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai Quick Guns secured a remarkable 35-29 victory, handing Gujarat Giants their first defeat in Ultimate Kho Kho Season 2. Promoted by Amit Burman in collaboration with the Kho Kho Federation of India, Ultimate Kho Kho Season 2 has sustained its success from the first season, becoming India’s third-largest non-cricket league in TV viewership. Notably, it also achieved the milestone of being the first Indian sports league to secure Series A funding, thanks to the UK-based BNP Group.
Chennai Quick Guns initiated the match strongly, limiting Gujarat Giants to 14 points in the first turn and securing two dream run bonus points. Despite Gujarat’s comeback in the following turn, the trio of Shubham Thorat, Deepak Madhav, and Faizankha Pathan earned three crucial dream run bonus points for Chennai.
Ramji Kashyap’s exceptional defensive display in the third turn turned the tide, earning a record five dream run bonus points for Chennai. In contrast, Gujarat managed only 12 points in their attack, setting a 16-point target. Chennai successfully chased the target, accumulating 20 points in the final turn to clinch victory.
Chennai Quick Guns will face defending champions Odisha Juggernauts next, while Mumbai Khiladis will compete against Gujarat Giants.
