The China Open 2024 will be concluding on Sunday. The competition has found the two finalists World No.1 Jannik Sinner and World No.3 Carlos Alcaraz will be facing each other. The Italian is the defending champion of the competition and the young Spaniard will be eyeing for his first China Open silverware. On Tuesday, in the semi-final, the US Open champion defeated the 96th-ranked Chinese wildcard Bu Yunchaokete 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) to avoid a major upset.
Bu was in the form of his life. He qualified for the semi-finals last week in Hangzhou. The 22-year-old kept the reigning champion under pressure. However, the 23-year-old staved off the threat, and the storm gradually dissipated as the set progressed to the final. Alcaraz has been in fine form in a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Russian World No.5 Daniil Medvedev in the other semi-final.
The last time these two met was back in June in the French Open semi-final. In this the game was decided in five sets. Carlos Alcaraz won the game 3-2 on the occasion. It will be a revenge match for the Italian player and defend his trophy on Sunday. The game will be worth watching with two of the best youngsters in tennis facing each other.
Alcaraz has the upper hand against Sinner
Will Alcaraz cruise past Sinner easily? This will be the Italian and Spaniard’s tenth encounter and their first final since 2022. Following five consecutive semi-finals. Sinner, on the other hand, has won 15 consecutive matches. Alcaraz has won eight in a row since his shocking setback in the second round of the US Open. The match is going to be a blockbuster for the tennis fans.
