Bronny Will Never Step Out of LeBron James’s Shadow

LeBron James has been a legend in basketball. The American basketball player is in his 22nd NBA season. The longevity of the power forward has been sensational to watch. Last week his son Bronny made his debut for the Los Angeles Lakers. This is the first time in league history that a father-son duo played for the same team in the same game. The moment happened last Tuesday.

With just over four minutes left in the second quarter, the arena buzzed with excitement as the two Jameses stood at the scorer’s table ready to check-in. It was more than just a substitute. It was a historic torch passing, a unique fusion of two generations on the same court. On Thursday, the second NBA game featuring a father-son pair, LeBron James checked out in the fourth quarter and sat back to watch his son Bronny.

Despite LeBron James and his son Bronny’s homecoming, the Los Angeles Lakers lost 110-134 against the Cleveland Cavaliers in an NBA game. The game marked the younger James’ first NBA basket for Los Angeles. But it was not enough. Evan Mobley scored 25 points, Donovan Mitchell added 24 and seven assists, and the Cavaliers advanced to 5-0. Cleveland are currently going through their best start since the 2016-17 season.

Bronny to outshine his father’s legacy

LeBron was a part of the team back that season wearing the no. 23 jersey for them. The Cavaliers supporters chanted, “We want Bronny!” Bronny recorded two assists and then scored his first basket as a professional on a 14-foot shot from the left corner with about two minutes left, earning a standing ovation. Will Bronny ever step out of LeBron’s shadow? It is way too early to predict the future of the basketball player.

He has just started the game and has huge pressure behind his back with his father being one of the top players in the sport. Los Angeles Lakers has also been criticised for drafting Bronny, who was taken in the second round after playing one year at USC. LeBron James was emotional after his son got his first strike in the competition and the sport as well.
