The Boston Celtics showcased yet another dominant display to secure a 118-84 win in Game 5 against the Miami Heat. Jaylen Brown and Derrick White added 25 points each to help the seventeen-time champions confirm their place in the Conference Semis. Sam Hauser and Jayson Tatum also had impactful nights as they added 17 and 16 points respectively on the night.
The Celtics looked on fire from the three-point arc as they shot 16 threes in Game 5. They looked dominant right from the tip-off and did not let Miami in the game throughout the 48 minutes. Bam Adebayo led the way for the Heat with 23 points, but the lack of support from his teammates led to Miami losing to the Boston Celtics for the second time in three postseasons.
Playing without their star player Jimmy Butler, the Heat was able to surprise the Boston Celtics in Game 2 with a 111-101 win. However, from there on, the Celtics have been dominant and always looked the likely winners in the series. They will now play the winners of the Cleveland Cavaliers vs Orlando Magic matchup, which is currently at 3-2 in favour of the Cavs. Boston will be hoping that it goes to seven games as that will give Kristpas Porzingis, who went down with a calf injury, more time to recover.
Boston Celtics have championship aspirations
Boston Celtics will be facing either the Orlando Magic or the Cleveland Cavaliers in the next round of the playoffs. This certainly will be a great sign for the Celtics as they will back their chances against both these teams. Orlando and Cleveland are both relatively newer to playoff pressure as compared to Boston. The record champions have been in the later stages of the playoffs for a while now. Although their two stars are below 28, the team has been consistent in the Playoffs and this year it looks like they could go all the way.
Boston won their regular season series against both Cleveland and Orlando. Although the playoffs present a clean slate, the Celtics are one of the most dangerous teams in the Eastern Conference. They have a stacked roster with some of the best players in the league. Led by Jayson Tatum, very seldom have the Boston Celtics not looked like a championship team this season. They have played brilliantly on both ends of the floor, which has helped them finish as a Top 3 in both the offensive and defensive categories.
The team were able to make the Easter Conference Finals last season but fell short against the Miami Heat. Having already knocked them out, Boston will be leading the race to represent the East in the NBA Finals. They have two more rounds to play before that, but having seen all that has gone down so far, it looks like the seventeen-time champions are too good to miss out on the NBA Finals this season.
