Bollywood Awards Always Fails To Recognise Excellence

Vikrant Massey should’ve won the Best Actor Award at IIFA and not Shahrukh Khan, there it is the truth.

The IIFA Award 2024 took place on last week in which Shahrukh was honored with the Best Actor Male for his movie Jawan, for which Vikrant Massey was a nominee too. But as always, the Bollywood awards failed to recognize the real talent. With all the glamour and glitz of course they would, of course, they would prefer a usual action-drama commercial movie which completely relies on the stardom of the lead actor and detracts far away from originality. The success of Jawan was majorly possible depending on the stardom of the star cast- Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone and not on the innovative script which it clearly lacked. Shahrukh Khan continued to play the charismatic persona in the movie which isn’t enough credit to win an IIFA Award or genuinely any award for Best Actor. There was nothing special to be noted in Jawan movie.

While Vikrant Massey who gave such an impressive and impactful performance in 12th fail didn’t get to take the trophy home, makes us question what else an actor needs to win the award. The portrayal of Manoj Sharma by Vikrant Massey connects deeply with the audience. It also showed his character arc by evolving with time, tackling societal problems, and facing them. The actor delivered a nuanced performance with subtle emotions carrying the essence of one’s struggles and obstacles, differentiating him from all the other actors who were nominated. One more great factor about the movie was its strong supporting cast, who alongside the protagonist, demonstrated their talent which enhanced the overall performance of the movie. 12th Fail had such an impactful storytelling as it addressed real-life problems such as lack of financial accessibility, fear of failure, and most importantly educational pressure from society.

If this is not what gets you an award there is no need for conducting an award function in the first place.
