Day 1 of the Battleground India Series(BGIS) Grand Finals concluded yesterday with the fan favourite Team Soul scoring the highest number of points to secure the highest rank in the standings on the opening day. Team Soul sits pretty on top of the leaderboard after scoring a total of 58 points on the opening day which includes 39 finishing points and 19 positioning points.
Following them in second place with 54 points to their name is Team Global Esports. They have 35 finishing points and 19 positioning points to their name. Both of the top two teams have a Chicken Dinner to their name. In third place is Team Xspark with the same amount of points as Global Esports. Xspark, who despite not winning any game find themselves in the top three thanks to their sheer consistency.
FS Esports managed to accumulate 46 points nudging themselves to a fourth-place finish on Day 1. Outside the top 4, heavyweights 8-bit only managed an 8th-place finish with 34 points while Reckoning Gaming finished above them at 7th with 36 points. To round up the top 8, Team Insane finished 6th with 37 points while Team Venom finished with 44 points at 6th place.
Games 1 to 6:
- Erangel: The opening match for the BGIS Grand Finals was on the Erangel Map. MOGO and Team Tamils were eliminated without picking up any points. Team Venom went on to win the match and also picked up a total of 21 points along the way, while Soul finished 3rd with 12 points and Team Insane finished 2nd with 15 points.
- Miramar: FS Esports, Carnival and Xspark were the top three performers while Soul, Venom and Aaru gaming had a poor run in this game. Unfortunately, the final results were not displayed due to technical difficulties.
- Sanhok: Team Tamilas took this victory after being patient throughout the game and clinching 15 points. MOGO and FS Esports accumulated 13 and 14 points each.
- Vikendi: The eventual leaders Team Soul showed why they stand where they do after an impressive showing in the 4th game of the night. They garnered a 25-point Chicken Dinner. FS Esports and Global Esports took home 13 and 11 points respectively.
- Miramar: It was finally team for Team 8-bit to fight back into the tournament. And they did so with a 22-point dominant victory. Venom and Xspark got 14 and 11 points respectively in second and third place.
- Erangel: Global Esports made a stunning comeback after winning the last game of the day with a huge 25-point victory. Soul scored 7 while Teams Aaru, Raven and Reckoning managed 13, 12, and 11 points respectively.
With two days still left to go in the BGIS, all eyes will be on the top of the leaderboard with every team trying to claim the spot that Team Soul currently sits at.
