In an emergency meeting held last month in Nagpur, the Maharashtra State Basketball Association unanimously elected renowned entrepreneur Anand Sancheti as its new President for a term of four years. Sancheti fills the vacancy left by Dr Dhananjay Verhukar, who resigned from the position due to personal reasons.
The meeting also saw the approval of the association’s articles, alongside the formulation and initiation of a strategic plan aimed at broadening the reach and popularity of basketball throughout Maharashtra. This initiative underscores the association’s commitment to fostering a vibrant basketball culture in the state.
During the event, Anand Sancheti was honoured with a bouquet of flowers by the association’s Vice President, Baba Jhalke, who extended his best wishes for Sancheti’s upcoming endeavours. Other key members of the association, including Vice Presidents Dr Dhananjay Verfukar and Rakesh Tiwari, Secretary Shatrughan Gokhale, Joint Secretary Ganesh Kad, Treasurer Jayant Deshmukh, and Member Rajesh Kshatriya, also conveyed their congratulations and support.
