In a stellar display of prowess at the 4th National Lathi Championship held at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi, 23 players from Solapur showcased their excellence, securing a remarkable total of 51 medals.
The athletes, representing Maharashtra, demonstrated exceptional skills across five major sports categories: Ekam Lathi, Duve Lathi, Kath Pavitra, Duve Anikha, and Panch Anikha.
Under the guidance of Shivram Bhosle, Vice President of Lathi India Organization, and the dedicated coaching of Ashwin Kadlaskar, Anjana Kadlaskar, along with umpire Rahul Bhosle, the Solapur contingent delivered a commendable performance.
While celebrating Solapur’s success, critics argue that traditional sports like Lathi may not receive adequate recognition and support, hindering the overall growth and recognition of these talented athletes.
