In a slow-paced but highly tactical affair in the Co-Main event at UFC 310 in the T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada, Shavkat Rakhmonov got the better of Ian Garry over the course of 5 rounds. The “Nomad” won the title fight decider via unanimous decision of 48-47 against Ian “The Future” Machado Garry, keeping his undefeated MMA record intact which now becomes 19-0-0. Meanwhile, Ian Garry might have ended up in the losing camp for the first time in his MMA career taking his record to a 15-1-0.
But Ian Garry did win something equally important at the end of the gruelling contest. And that is the respect of the MMA world. Ever since joining the UFC, Ian Garry has been at the centre of various controversies. His actions during these controversies led many UFC Fans to turn against him, due to which he lost a lot of respect. But ever since he started training at the new gym, where Charles Oliveira trains, Ian Garry has become more of a no-nonsense fighter who does what is needed and nothing more/less.
Today inside the cage, we saw the most respectable version of “The Future”. Not only did he put on a show with Shavkat Rakhmonov but on a couple of occasions almost had the Kazakhstani fighter with a very strong Rear-Naked Choke in the 5th round. Only if the grip had been slightly tighter, we would’ve seen a very different present present. But such is the sport of MMA, a very unforgiving one indeed. But Ian Garry should not let this loss define his situation as he put up a very strong fight and on multiple occasions had Shavkat Rakhmonov on the ropes.
This loss has surely put a dent in the title hopes of Ian Machado Garry, but can he bounce back quickly? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
