Okay!! Let’s talk about the elephant in the room. Ananya Panday just won a Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Hello? Are we living in the same world as Ananya Panday or is she having her little fairy world? We are all here to celebrate the young talent and all but was her performance in “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan” really award-worthy?
I agree that many find it relatable to their Gen-Z lifestyle and everything and I do agree that her character was decent and passable but was it outstanding? Was there anything outstanding about her character? Siddhant Chaturvedi and Adarsh Gourav performances completely overshadowed the actor. There was nothing extraordinary about her character to earn her an award. We don’t have a problem with clapping for her on how better she got as an actor since “Student Of The Year”, but better doesn’t make you the best. There are still some walls that need to be broken by Ananya Panday to showcase her award-worthy acting skills.
The movie “Kho Gaye Hum Kaha” wasn’t all bad, it had the aesthetics and a deep Gen Z relatable storyline, but Ananya’s portrayal of her character didn’t stand out. One could easily say Ananya Panday was playing herself. The actor had to play a dressed sobo girl which she’s good at. Ananya Panday’s role in “Kho Gaye Hum Kahan” was somewhat similar to her performance in “Gehraiyaan”. Ananya Panday’s character traits looked half-baked as they demanded more authenticity and subtle nuances as a Gen Z character. Let’s not act like nepotism doesn’t play a part in this.
Ananya has a whole Bollywood dynasty backing her, which kind of puts pressure on the critics. One more thing that was disappointing about Ananya Panday winning was the fact that Kriti Sanon was not even nominated for “Do Patti”. The film wasn’t a masterpiece or even good enough to watch it twice but Kriti Sanon’s role in the movie was well played. Kriti Sanon’s performance alone had more emotional depth than Ananya Panday’s last three films combined. Yes, I do stand with the fact that awards should encourage young talents but not by demeaning real or deserved artists. So let’s conclude with one fact Ananya Panday’s performance as Aisha might’ve been cute or memorable. Yes. Award-worthy? Absolutely No.
Comment down if you feel Ananya was the right choice for the Award
