India’s Youngest IPL Crorepati Is A Fraud, Ft. Vaibhav Suryawanshi

In recent times Indian Cricket has seen many youngsters snatch up huge contracts in the IPL. But no one has garnered the kind of hype a certain individual by the name of Vaibhav Suryavanshi has. The youngster from Bihar is currently playing for the India U-19 squad in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup. But it’s not just Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s batting skills that have impressed everyone, it’s his tender age. According to Vaibhav Suryavanshi himself and his family members, the young lad is just 13 years old at the time of writing this article on December 2nd, 2024.

But that seems just too fishy. While in all of his official documents his age is 13 years, by his admission, he was supposed to turn 14 in September of last year. Moreover, even his Birth Date has been put in speculation after his Birthdate was earlier documented to be in March.

Back in April 2023 during the Benipatti High School Tournament, when asked about his real age, Vaibhav Suryavanshi said that he was due to turn 14 on September 27th. But many people noted that his DOB on official cricketing documents is actually on 27th March 2011. So if Vaibhav Suryavanshi was speaking the truth last year, he isn’t 13 years old, but actually 15 years old.

Netizens Label Vaibhav Suryavanshi As A Fraudster

Recently in an interview during the ACC U-19 Asia Cup, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was asked who his cricketing idol was. He replied by saying that Brian Lara the legendary West Indies left-handed batter was his idol. The only thing is that Brian Lara retired in 2007, with his last match being at the 2007 ODI CWC. That was approximately 4 years before Vaibhav Suryavanshi was supposedly born. And Netizens were very quick to notice that.

This made many people narrow their eyes at the Bihar-born batter. With the opening batsman coming under the spotlight for smashing a century against the Australia U-19 earlier, and after going for 1.1Cr in the recently concluded IPL 2025 Mega Auction to the Rajasthan Royals, many people have started speculating about the teenager’s real age.

Vaibhav’s Father Lashes At Critics

In a recent interview, after getting frustrated at all the people labelling his son as an Age Fraud. Vaibhav Suryawanshi’s father spoke up about the situation. He stated, “When he was 8 and half years old he first appeared for a BCCI bone test. He has already played India U-19. We don’t fear anyone. He can again undergo age test.”
