Jon Jones Humiliated By His Own Fans After Making False Claims

It’s no secret that many sports stars love to gloat. Especially those who are from the world of MMA. Sadly, most of them cannot walk the talk. But someone like Jon Jones Isn’t one of them. He always backs his talk. Or at least he used to. Nowadays ‘Bones’ has been harming his legacy more often than adding onto it whenever he gloats about himself.

All the drama of avoiding Tom Aspinall, who is the rightful heir to the UFC Heavyweight Championship, and Jon Jones’ statements about the British fighter not being a worthy opponent makes him look weak in the eyes of many. To add to the criticism he has been facing in recent weeks, ‘Bones’ was caught straight up making false claims recently on Social Media. Following his victory against Stipe Miocic in the headliner of the UFC 309 event at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, Jon Jones added another victim to his already long list of the UFC Champions he has fought and defeated.

A week after his victory, Jon Jones tweeted out a message to his fans where he was basically gloating about how great he is. Jon Jones stated, “In 2011, I became the youngest champion in UFC history. Today, I’m proud to stand as the oldest champion on the roster.. Age is just a number when your mind and spirit stay sharp.” While it is true that Jon Jones back in 2011 became the youngest-ever UFC Champion in history, that’s about all the truth the statement holds.

Because Jon Jones is not actually the oldest UFC Champion on the promotion’s roster. That title is held by none other than Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira who is 12 days older than ‘Bones’. The MMA Community on X however were not going to let this slide and in no time posted up a community note explaining the real truth, hence proving Jones’ statement as false. The community note under the post of the Heavyweight Champion stated, “Alex Pereira is 12 days older than Jon Jones, and is the actual “oldest champion on the roster”.”

Funnily enough, Jon Jones is not even close to being the Oldest ever UFC Champion, as that accolade is held by Randy Couture. ‘The Natural’ had won the UFC Championship when he was 43 years and 255 days when he defeated Tim Sylvia at UFC 68 on March 3, 2007. Randy lost his UFC Heavyweight Championship to Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 on November 15, 2008. Couture was 45 years and 147 days old at the time of this fight. This makes him the oldest champion to hold onto to a Championship Belt.
