Last year, the Auction saw records being broken for the most valuable player of all time. And this time it would be no different.

1. Kagiso Rabada
In the 2024 IPL Auction, overseas pacers went for big big money. And we could see this trend continuing even this season in the IPL. And one name in that list that towers over everybody else is Kagiso Rabada. The South African Pace Phenom has been exceptional for his country in the T20I format.
He is in his prime currently and will only get better in the upcoming years. KG Rabada is arguably one of the, if not the outright Best T20I Pacer on the planet currently. So there’s no doubt that he will go for big money and could even break the record that Mitchell Starc set last season.
2. Rishabh Pant
Here is what Rishabh Pant brings to the table for whichever team he plays for. A very capable captaincy option who is still quite young and would be a great long term investment, also keeps wickets, and also has the ability to decimate any bowling attack especially spinners and has practically no weaknesses on his day.
Who wouldn’t want someone so tailor-made for T20 Cricket in their team? And that’s why Rishabh Pant makes this list on number 2.
3. Jake Fraser McGurk
Last season was all about destructive batting performances one after the other. And there was one particular opening pair that stood out. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head who have both been retained by SRH ahead of the Auction. But there was one other opener who was going toe-to-toe with the SRH duo and even surpassing them on many occasions with respect to the Strike Rate.

4. Arshdeep Singh
If you think PBKS made a blunder by not retaining Arshdeep Singh ahead of the Auction, you are absolutely right. If a bowler can give you 4 top quality overs at a very decent Economy while everyone else is getting bashed and also picks up timely wickets at any phase of the innings, best believe he has the ability to win you games on his own.
Even though PBKS do have the RTM option available, they will regret not retaining Arshdeep Singh just because of how expensive he will turn out at the Mega Auction.
5. Trent Boult
Aligning with the trend of Overseas fast bowlers going for big money, next up on the list is Trent Boult. Last season as if it were magic, the New Zealander would get you wickets in his first two overs with fearsome consistency. With how crucial it is in today’s game to pick up wickets early on in the innings, acquiring the services of Trent Boult will be all the more important for various franchises.
