Jasprit Bumrah’s Fifer Is A Beneficiary Of Modern Conditions

India is touring Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024/25. The Men in Blue after a horrifying home tour against New Zealand. They were under pressure against the reigning World Test Champions. It was very much visible in the first test when captain Jasprit Bumrah led the side without Rohit Sharma. They were bundled out for 150 runs in the first innings. With some fight from Rishabh Pant and Nitish Kumar Reddy.

After coming to bowl, India was absolutely at their best, with Bumrah leading from the front and picking up 5 wickets. He completed his 11th five-wicket haul in Tests by dismissing Alex Carey off the first ball of his spell on Day 2. This was Bumrah’s second fifer in Australia and also helped India get a stronghold in the first Test in Perth. Bumrah not only scored his maiden five-wicket haul as captain.

Jasprit Bumrah also became the first Indian pacer to reach 50 wickets in a single World Test Championship (WTC). Bumrah has now become the joint-highest Indian bowler with the most five-wicket hauls in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia) nations, and his spectacular run is far from over. After picking up the 2nd fifer he has equalled the great Kapil Dev’s record for joint most fifers.

Kapil Dev vs Bumrah is a record of fair comparison

Bumrah has been the most effective in his own country for obvious reasons, and he has two fifers in red-ball cricket at home. His variations and techniques for getting batters out are second to none. Bumrah bowled 18 overs and grabbed five wickets for 30 runs, with an economy rate of 1.67. He took vital wickets of Nathan McSweeney, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith, Alex Carey, and captain Pat Cummins.

India is in a good stage in the second innings with both openers looking settled down a bit and having a lead of 110 runs as they are 64 runs without a wicket in the first innings. KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal would like to add some more runs and stay at the crease till the tea break. The Men in Blue will look to pile up as many runs and bat through the day.
