Looks like Marvel isn’t the only one Robert Downey will be returning to. There has been no other detective movie like Sherlock Holmes and there will never be. The iconic detective movie Sherlock Homes was released almost 13 years ago. The first two movies, Sherlock Holmes(2009) and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadow in 2011. Since then there has been no update on the third part of the movie. None of the stars nor the director of the movie commented on when the third part will start shooting till now.
Jude Law who played the character of Dr. John H. Watson made some comments on the move of the third part. During an interview, Jude Law provided some insights on the update of Sherlock Holmes. The British actor said that there might be some plans to incorporate time travel in the upcoming movie but the “new iteration” had moved beyond the plot line. Jude Law stated, Gosh, yeah, that’s interesting. The plan has been evolving over how many years it’s been now, probably nearly 10 years,” said Mr law. Further on he added, “There’s a great will to make it. And a great will amongst us all to get right to do it, to find the time, to find the right team. I think there’s a new iteration of the script I haven’t yet read. And then there’s a case of ‘How expensive is it? And can we get it made?'”
When asked about the center of the movie, Robert Downey Junior, Mr. Law said, “The one great thing I took from both of those films is my friendship with Robert [Downey Jr.] and his wife Susan, they mean an awful lot to me. The hope is we’re still going to do it.” “Exactly, but honestly, also, there’s a friendship, but also the experience of working with Robert, and he does bring an extraordinarily brilliant, fun, motivated, and inspirational kind of quality to a film set, and I miss it being a part of that,” he said. “It was a great experience.”
Now the real question that gets us excited is if Robert Downey will be returning to be in Sherlock Holmes or not. Ever since “The Avengers Endgame”, RDJ has been exploring various projects here and there. Robert Downey just made his comeback to the Marvel Universe as “Dr. Doom”, which sparked a lot of controversies if it was a pro move or a failure. But returning to Sherlock Holmes will be one of the best career decisions for RDJ as he was the driving force for Sherlock Holmes.
