The past few years have been financially horrid for FC Barcelona, one of the biggest clubs in world football as the Catalan Club since the Bartomeu have been piling themselves under mountains of economic debt. But it seems like they are finally finding their footing again. The financial restraints that pushed Messi out of the club have been lightened a lot since. Barcelona has struck gold with its recent and historic new deal with the leading sports brand “Nike”.
The specifics of the new contract between FC Barcelona and Nike remain undisclosed, but according to the Spanish source Mundo Deportivo, the two giants have reportedly agreed to a 14-year partnership valued at £127 million annually, totalling an estimated £1.7 billion. This deal would set a new record as the most expensive kit agreement in football history even rivalling the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United’s deals with Adidas.
With the new contract made official and £ 158 Million coming with it as a signing bonus, Joan Laporta the president of FC Barcelona is eager to make an era-defining signing in 2025 to commemorate the opening of the New Spotify Camp Nou and has shortlisted 5-6 names. Let’s take a look at the 5 Major names Los Cules can bring to Camp Nou next season.
1. Rafael Leao
The top name on Joan Laporta’s list is the Portuguese Left Winger, Rafael Leao. The AC Milan player is one of a kind and has the ability to dribble past any defence on a whim. Something that all other Barca players except Lamine Yamal lack.
He recently showed his potential against Madrid making a mockery of their defence in the UCL. Furthermore, according to reports on the internet, Rafael Leao is willing to join Barcelona and is actually looking forward to it.
2. Nico Williams
During the summer transfer window, Nico Williams was very close to joining FC Barcelona, but the deal didn’t work out in the end as he turned down Barcelona’s offer.
He has special chemistry with Lamine Yamal in the Spain squad and it would be a dream for many to see them both playing together for the Catalan Club for the next 10 years or so.
3. Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian winger is up there in the conversation of the best players in the world this season. He has already completed 10+ Goals and 10+ Assists playing in the Premier League this season.
With him on the Right Wing and Lamine Yamal as his understudy, FC Barcelona will only progress further. He can also play as a 9 though that’s not his best position. The only drawback is that he is already 32 years old.
4. Leroy Sane
While not the most lucrative player on this list. Leroy Sane offers something others do not. And that is his prior experience of playing under the FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick. Sane has spent time with the German coach in the national team as well at FC Bayern Munich.
His electric pace, ability to play on either side and work ethic make him a strong contender for FC Barcelona, especially as a bench player.
5. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
While the Napoli Left Winger would have been a great signing two years ago, he hasn’t kept the level of his performances high regularly.
Among all the 5 options FC Barcelona have at their disposal, the Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia seems the weakest.
