FC Barcelona Have Found A Trio That Will Surpass “MSN”

Hansi Flick has changed everything about FC Barcelona this season. From not even being close to a top European Side last season under Xavi, FC Barcelona are one of the if not the outright favourites to win every competition that they are a part of. This includes the UEFA Champions League ahead of the likes of Real Madrid, Liverpool, Man City and Bayern Munich. And yesterday they proved to the world just why they are the ones to be scared of in Europe.

FC Barcelona Has Been Unlucky In The UCL In The Recent Past

FC Barcelona are currently cruising atop the La Liga table with 33 out of the possible 36 points to their name. They are as of now 9 points clear of Madrid who are in 2nd place. But for Los Cules, their La Liga form was never a question as they always do good in their domestic league. The big question for Hansi Flick’s team was whether they could perform in the UCL. That is where FC Barcelona has been bottling it ever since 2016.

But after the initial hiccup against AS Monaco, Barcelona has made it clear no matter the opposition or the occasion, they are more than capable of demolishing them on any given night. But there were still doubts about their form on away UCL Nights. For a team the stature of FC Barcelona, they don’t have a good record away from home. But even these doubts were put to rest last night.

FC Barcelona Decimate Red Star Belgrade, 5-2

With goals from Inigo Martinez, Raphinha, Fermin Lopez and a brace from Lewandowski, FC Barcelona made light work of the Serbian side. This huge win comes after they took apart FC Bayern Munich at home in the last UCL Matchweek by putting 4 past Manuel Neuer. So what’s the secret behind FC Barcelona’s golden run of form?

Lamine-Lewandowski-Raphina > Messi-Suarez-Neymar?

A lot has been said about FC Barcelona’s front three of Raphinha, Lewandowski, and Lamine Yamal, with them being undoubtedly the biggest stars for Barcelona contributing with humongous amounts of goals and assists. They have contributed to a total of 55 G/A for FC Barcelona this season. This includes Lewandowski’s 19 goals and 2 assists, Raphinha’s 12 goals and 8 assists, and Lamine Yamal’s 6 goals and 8 assists for FC Barcelona.

Mind you, Barcelona has only played 16 games this season. This is even more than the output of the Legendary Blaugrana front 3 of Messi-Suarez-Neymar, who had contributed to 51 G/A for Barcelona 16 matches into the 2014/15 season which was their best season as a Trio. This blistering start for the Barca trio has also resulted in the Catalan Club having the best scoring start in their history with them scoring a total of 55 goals in just 16 games. This is 1 more than the record set in the 1950/51 season where they had scored 54 goals 16 games into the season.

By the rate Barcelona are going at, they are also on track to overtake Real Madrid’s record of the highest number of La Liga goals in a single season which sits pretty at 121 as of now. Scoring 3+ goals per game is just insane.

If the Golden Trio of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha continue playing the way that they are, we could see many many records being broken by the end of this season. Can they surpass MSN’s greatest-ever season? Let us know your opinion in the comments below.
