India’s Shot At 2036 Olympics Is Just A Overambitious Dream

India has officially bid for the 2036 Olympics. It has formally presented a ‘Letter of Intent’ to the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Future Host Commission. They are interested in hosting the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games. While there has been no official confirmation, reports have stated that the letter was addressed to the IOC’s Future Hosts Commission (FHC) on October 1. This is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s campaign to organise major multi-discipline events.

This includes the 2030 Youth Olympics after India openly stated its ambition to host the 2036 Olympics at the opening ceremony of the 141st IOC session in Mumbai last year. Last year, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his government’s desire to host the 2036 big athletic event in the country. He also discussed this on his September visit to New York. The nation did not have the best of campaigns at the Paris Olympics.

India won only six medals with 5 bronze and 1 silver. A decision on the host will not be made until the IOC elections next year. This is the first significant formal step towards accomplishing India’s long-held goal to host a major quadrennial event. The nation will face competition from many other countries. Including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Turkey, which are presenting themselves as serious candidates to host the sports event.

India’s Olympic vision will bring a sports revolution

Is India ready to shoulder the Olympic Torch? PT Usha stated India’s commitment to hosting the 2036 Olympics remains steadfast. Since last year, we have maintained regular communication with IOC President Thomas Bach. And with the officials of the future host commission. We also remained in touch with the officials at the Paris Olympics, during which our officers attended the executive program and observer program organised by the IOC.

The Summer Games are scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, California in 2028 and Brisbane, Australia, in 2032. Ahmedabad is the leading contender to host the Games. The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) was established in July 2023 to supervise the development and implementation of Olympic-level infrastructure in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.
