The Netflix show Emily in Paris has been familiar to everyone since it premiered on Netflix. The show released its fourth season a few days back, which had mixed reactions from the audience. Some liked the introduction of new characters, while some loved the new concept of Emily moving to Rome. One thing that everyone has been despising for a while is the development of Lucas Bravo’s character Gabriel.
The French actor Lucan Bravo has been nothing more than Emily’s love interest in the show. He gets overshadowed every time Emily’s love interest shifts to someone else. Since the show premiered in 2020, we have all been waiting for the directors to add more spice to Gabriel’s character. It’s unfair that when one has so much potential to shine through his role, all he is given is to play the central love interest of the protagonist. The sexy chef is all about being the thirst trap, be it the girls outside or in the show. People have been waiting so long that they have accepted that Gabriel and Emily’s chemistry will not lead them anywhere. Things would have been different if Gabriel was Emily’s only love interest and not a candidate.
The French actor was recently interviewed about his feelings on returning to the show for the fifth season. Lucas Bravo expressed his concern about how Gabriel’s character isn’t fun for him anymore. Lucas said, “The ‘sexy chef’ was very much part of me in Season 1 and we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and because of the direction they make him take,”. “It kind of became not fun for me to shoot or to see a character I love so much and brought me so much, being slowly turned into guacamole,” he also said. “It’s a comedy, everybody is having fun around me, everybody is jumping around, and I’m just slowly sinking into god knows what,” he said. Further on the actor added about the future of his character, he said, I tried for seasons to bring nuances but we don’t have much liberty on set. We cannot change a word or an emotion. They know what they want and we just have to comply,” he said.
“It makes me question if I want to be part of Season 5,” Bravo added.
