FC Barcelona are running a riot in the La Liga this season. They are at the top of the table with 33 points from 12 games winning 11 and losing one so far. The Blaugranes have scored 40 goals in the league so far the most by any teams in the season. Hansi Flick has been doing wonders with the La Masia kids, they have been succeeding so well in the season.
Barca sealed the game in the first half in the Catalonian derby on Sunday, against Espanyol. They made 3-0 within the first 30 minutes of the game, with Dani Olmo scoring a brace for the side along with a Raphinha strike. Despite not getting on the scoresheet, Lamine Yamal was on hand to show off his Kopa Trophy pre-game. The teenager delivered yet another accomplished display for Hansi Flick’s side.
The young Barça player has now played 50 official La Liga matches in the Spanish top flight, with his assist for Olmo’s opening goal in the 12th minute. Lamine has been directly involved in 24 goal contributions (14 assists/10 goals). He falls one short of the milestone set by Barca icon Lionel Messi in his first fifty appearances in the famous ‘azulgrana’ jersey. The Argentine bagged 21 goals and provided 4 assists.
Lamine Yamal following in Messi’s footsteps
Can Yamal live up to the Messi hype at FC Barcelona? Lamine Yamal currently has six goals and eight assists in 15 games for Barcelona in the 2024-25 season, but he scored one of the goals when Spain defeated Switzerland (1-4) in the UEFA Nations League. Lamine now has the most assists (7) in La Liga EA Sports, surpassing Raphinha (6), Álex Baena, Bryan Zaragoza, and Óscar Mingueza (5).
FC Barcelona’s next game in the Spanish top flight will be a challenging road to San Sebastian to play Real Sociedad next weekend, but before that comes a tricky trip to Belgrade to face Red Star in the UEFA Champions League. Barca would like to keep their winning momentum going as they have scored 16 goals in the last 4 games they played conceding only thrice.
