Magomed Ankalaev may have rushed his way into a title fight by calling out the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Alex ‘Poatan ‘Pereira. Unfortunately for the Dagestani, there might not be a way out anymore. At the recently concluded UFC 308, Magomed Ankalaev defeated Aleksandar Rakic via Unanimous Decision. In the following days, his victory prompted him to call out the UFC Light Heavyweight Champ on Social Media.
Magomed Ankalaev has been unbeaten in his 13 UFC fights. His only MMA career loss came in his UFC Debut over 6 years ago. Ever since he has been steamrolling past opponents and has now secured himself as the No. 1 Light Heavyweight Contender in the UFC. But life is moving a bit too fast for the Russians. With Belal Muhammad declaring himself unfit for UFC 310, his scheduled bout with Shavkhat Rakhmonov has been postponed.
This leaves UFC 310 with no Main Event fight as of now. In a post suggesting the same, Alex Pereira had commented a Telephone emoji suggesting that all the UFC has to do is give him a call and he would be ready to fight. Magomed Ankalaev replied with the same emoji under the post.
This sparked rumours of the Light Heavyweight bout taking place no later than December 7. But with how Alex Pereira has been recovering after the War he had with Khalil Rountree Jr only just over a month ago, it’s no surprise that Alex Pereira himself won’t be ready to go into yet another fight camp. Taking this opportunity to spite his opponent, Magomed Ankalaev has made many tweets on social media calling out ‘Poatan’ for his unwillingness to take up the fight.
For someone as good as Alex Pereira, all the criticism and hate on Social Media is just added fuel. While they might not match up against each other at UFC 310. The Alex Pereira vs Magomed Ankalaev fight will happen very soon barring any surprises.
And on that day inside the Octagon, it will be just the Brazilian Alex Pereira up against the Russian. Then Ankalaev will have no keyboards to hide behind. Poatan’s left hook will eventually land and he will retain his championship. There is no other way a fight between the top 2 Light Heavyweights can go other than Alex Pereira absolutely dominating it. Who according to you comes out on top between the two when they fight inside the Octagon? Let us know in the comments below.
