India Is Falling For Foreign Football While Neglecting Local Talents

India once was the hub of talented footballers. They even got calls from the European clubs for their exceptional talents. However, they did not leave their home country clubs and took the opportunity they had during their playing days. As time passed by Indian football could not deliver the infrastructure needed for the betterment of the sport. This is the reason that with so much passion sports have no future in the country.

Despite not having the best of future the fans support European football and Indian football with much love and passion. FC Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-0 in the El Clasico match on Saturday. The echoes of their victory could be heard all around the world. Globally, there isn’t a football match that generates as much buzz as a match between Barcelona and Real Madrid, whether in La Liga or the Champions League.

Indian Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and his Spanish counterpart Pedro Sanchez held a roadshow in Gujarat’s Vadodara. Even football talks buzzed across the city. PM Modi used the example of Barcelona’s triumph over Real Madrid in La Liga to show how passionately the match was discussed in India, possibly as strongly as it would have been in Spain. Both the PMs waved at the crowd gathered along the 2.5-km stretch of the route from the airport.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi likes Spanish Football

PM Modi said during his speech at the event, “Spanish football is liked a lot in India. Yesterday, the match between Real Madrid and Barcelona, and the discussions were held in India, too. Barcelona’s brilliant win was a subject of discussion here as well. I can also tell you that there was as much banter between the fans of the two clubs in India, as it would’ve been in Spain.”

The two leaders jointly opened the Tata Advanced Systems plant before proceeding to the ancient Laxmi Vilas Palace for a bilateral meeting. Tata Advanced Systems’ C-295 production complex is India’s first private sector final assembly line for military aircraft.
