“Do Patti” Is A Fresh And Female-Centric Take On Bollywood’s Ordinary Thriller Genre

In an era where Bollywood is trying to create content that indulges the audience in all conventions, I feel we finally are succeeding in doing so. A new movie called- Do Patti starring Kriti Sanon and Shaheer Sheikh explores the untouched dynamics of storytelling which is a fresh and new concept to the audience.

Do Patti has a fresh narrative that sets away from the usual and ordinary drama thriller genre of Bollywood. Do Patti is more than a typical Bollywood movie, it has thriller, mystery, and romance. Fun fact check, Do Patti doesn’t have just one female protagonist but two which reflects the rising empowerment of female leads in the movies. After seeing the same boring thriller of killing and betrayals, the audience needed something out of the box, something that’s refreshing to the Bollywood child.

The shift from a male-dominated plot to a women-led narrative, which a still a relatively rare genre, the film is taking on a refreshing approach to the audience. Kriti Sanon after establishing herself as one of the versatile actors of our generation, is headed off to a new beginning- being a producer. The actress is not only playing the protagonist but also co-producing the movie. This is Kriti Sanon’s first movie as a producer which is a bold step. This step resonates with the evolving environment of Bollywood, from an actress to taking control behind the scenes helps the industry to see beyond its vision. And honestly, I think to pick a women-centric thriller movie is a huge statement in itself.

The movie has more than one extraordinary fact, Shaheer Sheikh is making his Bollywood debut with Do Patti. Television heartthrob Shaheer Sheikh is in the lead role and our hearts couldn’t feel fuller. The Mahabharata actor will be romancing the Diva on the big screen which is so important to the little hearts who still remember him as Dev Dixit from “Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi”. During the trailer launch of Do Patt, Kriti Sanon mentioned how important it was for her to find the perfect cast for the role of Dhruv. Speaking of Kriti’s commitment to finding the perfect fit, the writer of Do Patti Kanika Dhillon said, “Just an example of how hands-on Kriti was. Kriti’s like, ‘Last 10 rounds, I’ll audition with 10 people’. And those last 10 people left, Kriti herself went and auditioned with each of those 10 candidates, did that scene over and over. Most of them got nervous seeing Kriti audition with them.”
We’ll be seeing Kajol as well after so long in the movie, which fuels our excitement into 10 times more.
