In the current time of Bollywood where remakes and reboots have become a casual trend, there are talks about remaking Shaktiman in the form of a movie. The casting is not decided yet but Ranveer Singh recently said that he tried to convince the OG “Mukesh Khanna” who played the role of Shaktiman to let him play the role. While Ranveer Singh is known for his electric energy and over-the-moon enthusiasm, the idea of him playing the role of Shaktiman stirred up some controversies all over social media. Ranveer Singh has given some high-class energetic performances in Simba, Rocky Aur Rani kii Kahani, and Padmavat but this is exactly what we don’t need to see in our Shaktiman. Shaktiman has always been more about the concept of the movie than anything else. The Shaktiman which fans still remember doesn’t fit with the high commercialization of movies that Bollywood does. Shaktiman isn’t just any Indian Superhero like “Flying Jatt”, he’s a man of high culture who taught us how to have the right values and morals in our lives to lead society to its betterment. Mukesh Khanna’s performance left an indelible and powerful mark on the viewers, however casting a flamboyant actor like Ranveer Singh will only ruin the whole memory of Shaktiman for the loyal fans. The reboot of Shaktiman requires someone who can understand the essence and depth of Shaktiman and not just see it as any other Bollywood movie. Shaktiman played by Mukesh Khanna became legendary not cause he was a Superhero but also the values and life lessons he imparted to a wide generation of viewers.
Fans worry that Ranveer Singh might try to prioritize his over-the-top action sequences and flashy visuals, which would be demeaning to the essence of Shaktiman. There is no doubt that Ranveer Singh is a talented actor, but his acting style and persona don’t align with the essence of Shaktiman. The fact that Ranveer Singh had to invest 3 hours convincing Mukesh Khanna for the role shows that Mukesh Khanna himself is reluctant about it.
If you think Ranveer Singh shouldn’t force himself to be a part of something not meant for him and also if you don’t want to see Shaktiman become a high commercial movie, comment down your opinions.
