India’s Home Test Dominance Becoming Too Predictable

India clean sweeps Bangladesh in the two-match test series. The Men in Blue have once again showcased their dominance at home. Rohit Sharma’s side have not lost a series at home since 2012. They have been performing excellently at their den and have been the most difficult side to beat at home. Despite Bangladesh coming with good form beating Pakistan 2-0 at their home. However, coming to India and beating them is a very hard task. 

They bundled out the Bangla Tigers in the Day 4 of the first Test match. However, coming in the second test Bangladesh yet again started dominatingly. They were 107/3 at the end of Day 1. The two days of washout thought there would be a draw in this test. Indian bowlers did the trick on Day 4 and the batters played aggressively after bundling out the visitors for 233 runs. 

India declared on 285/9 taking a lead of 52 runs. They let the visitors bat on in the second innings. Najmul Hossain Shanto’s side lost two wickets at the end of Day 4. However, coming to Day 5 of the Test Shadman Islam and the captain stitched a good partnership. But a loose shot from the Bangladesh captain ended the partnership. 

India wins the test out of nowhere

Did Shanto’s loose shot make the difference between a draw and a loss? Yes after Shanto’s wicket was the turning point of the game. From there the Indian bowlers especially Ravindra Jadeja picked up the pace and the middle order of the visitors crumbled. Jaddu, Ashwin, and Bumrah picked three wickets each, and Akash Deep picked one. 

India comfortably chased down the target and won the match by 7 wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal once again played a fiery knock of 51 runs off 45 balls. Virat Kohli gave him the support with 29 runs off 37 balls. Rishabh Pant ended the game with a six. This win for India will keep them at the top of the table in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. India will next host New Zealand for three test match series.
