Rumors have it that Dhoom 4 is on the move and this time it won’t be Hrithik Roshan or Amir Khan we’ll be seeing racing throughout the movie. The Dhoom 4 directors have decided to take someone else as the lead and it’s none other than the one who owns the title of most versatile actor of Bollywood-Ranbir Kapoor.
Before you get all geared up with just the thought of seeing Ranbir Kapoor on the big screen, there are a few unsaid facts that we need to consider. Ranbir Kapoor an actor who has always been known for his natural acting on screen which makes us the audience hooked to the screen, is suited right for this movie? The answer is no. We’ve always seen the actor making any emotional scene feel so true with his expressions and dialogue delivery. It is hard to imagine him doing a character like Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom 4 which requires mount of action and energy. What bothers me even more is that actors like Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra who played their roles so ironically, have been dropped out of the franchise. The question arises if Ranbir Kapoor will drop a performance that will give justice to their unmatched energy throughout the franchise.
Ranbir Kapoor who has played the role of soft and lovable like protagonist his whole career, chose to do a character that will be unfair to his Loverboy and relatable characters Ved, Jordan, and Barfi, I can keep going on with this list considering myself as his biggest fan.
This is why I truly believe there should’ve been more chit-chatting on whom to cast in the movie. Ranbir has always been known for playing relatable roles(Rockstar, Tamasha, Barfi) which is why I think it was probably a wrong decision to take on a larger-than-life role as an antagonist in the movie. Ranbir has often played a realistic content-driven film and Dhoom 4 is nothing like it. He mostly chooses roles that will challenge him unlike Dhoom 4.
My advice to Ranbir Kapoor would be to say no to a commercial film like Dhoom 4, which has left his own legacy behind, as it would affect his image of being a creative and versatile actor.
