Erling Haaland has been the best goalscorer in the modern-day football. The Norwegian striker has been amazing since joining Premier League side Manchester City. He won the Golden Boot in two back-to-back seasons in the toughest domestic football league in the world. The striker is already the leading goal scorer in the 2024/25 season with 10 goals. He is leading the chart by double the numbers who is second.
On Sunday, the City No.9 made history in the all-important game against Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium. He broke the deadlock in just 9 minutes of the game to give the defending champions the lead. This goal helped him to equal the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for the fastest 100 goals for a European football club. The former Manchester United winger previously set the record in his first 105 games for Real Madrid back in 2009.
Ronaldo was 26 years old when he reached 100 goals for the club. However, Haaland is just 24 years old, he has taken time two years less than the footballing legend. This has been a historic milestone for the striker to share the same stage with one of the best football players of all time. CR7 recently achieved the milestone of 900 goals in his career. The Portuguese captain is the only footballer to do so.
Erling Haaland will surpass Ronaldo’s 900-goal record
If Haaland continues to score like this every season he will surely pass Cristiano Ronaldo’s record. So far in the EPL, he has scored 63 goals in the last two seasons. This year with 10 goals behind his name already he will like to do a hattrick of winning the Golden Boot. However, there has been a problem that he has scored less in tough matches or against tougher opponents.
At 24 years of age, he has time to improve and score clutch and important goals for the club in the forthcoming years. He helped City to win their maiden UEFA Champions League (UCL) title in his first season with the club. Under Pep Guardiola he can be a beast if worked properly and have good focus on the game.
