5 Things We Have Learned From The First 5 Matchdays In The Premier League

The 2024/2025 Season has started off strong with high-octane football being played across the top tier of English Football. The Premier League, also referred to by many as the best league in the world due to its high level of teams and opposition, has started off with all sorts of eventualities and surprises. So today, let’s take a look at some of the things that the Premier League has taught us after the first 5 matchdays of the Season.

Premier League Teachings #1: Erling Haaland Is NOT A Human

If you thought Erling Haaland’s first season two seasons in the Prem were something special, his third season might make you fear the devil. Haaland has to be some kind of a supernatural entity to be scoring 9 goals in his first 4 Premier League matches of the season and adding his 10th of the season against the recently concluded match against Arsenal. The Norwegian just CANNOT stop scoring! With his goal in Man City’s draw against Arsenal, the 24-year-old equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record (for Real Madrid) for the fastest player in the 21st century to score 100 goals for a club, with both strikers requiring 105 matches to reach that mark.

Premier League Teachings #2: Aston Villa Can Manage Europe And The League

The biggest fear Aston Villa fans, and neutral football fans had regarding the Villa outfit was that their participation in the UEFA Champions League would harm their progress in the league. And with almost 2 months of Club football being played out, those fears have kind of been relayed. Aston Villa currently sit 3rd in the Premier League ahead of clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea. They have won 4 out of 5 games in the Prem under Unai Emery and keep outperforming themselves whenever on the pitch. Both their previous Prem fixtures have been comebacks after going down 0-2 and 0-1 to winning the games 3-2 and 2-1 respectively.

Premier League Teachings #3: Three Horse Race For The Title, Ft. ManCity, Arsenal, Liverpool

The three Usual suspects, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal find themselves as favourites to win the Premier League title yet again thanks to their red-hot form at the start of the season. All three teams have a great chance to win the Title this season especially after Man City will definitely miss Rodri for a large part of the season. Currently, only 3 points separate the 3 clubs at the top of the table.

Premier League Teachings #4: Chelsea In Contention, A Pleasant Surprise

Apart from the 3 teams mentioned above, if there is one team with enough squad depth and momentum to stake a claim on the Premier League title, it is Chelsea FC. The London outfit currently sit 5th, tied on points with Arsenal and have immense talent brimming to the fullest in their squad. Enzo Maresca has finally managed to come up with the winning formula for the squad and with only the Conference League to focus on and a hell of a lot of squad depth, Chelsea might make a push for the Prem Title this season.

This trend has been going on for the last 10-11 seasons. And it has continued yet again. Manchester United has nothing to show for all the flexing of their muscles in the transfer window. They are currently stranded on 11 points with only 2 wins from the first 5 matches.

Do you think Manchester United will make the top 4 this season? Personally, I think it’s impossible. But please let us know your opinions on the matter in the comments below.
