India’s Chess Teams Make Their Move; Eyes Double Success

The Indian men’s Chess team is leading with 17 points and is close to winning the 45th Chess Olympiad. In the ninth round, the match between India and Uzbekistan was tied 2-2. The women’s group, the Indian team is in the second position. In the men’s group, the battle between India and Uzbekistan was fierce. The Indian team was successful in getting 2 points. 

It is special that all four innings remained drawless in this match. This is the first time that Indian players have tied all four innings in this tournament. The innings between India’s top-ranked player D Gukesh and Abdusattorov Nodirbek ended in a draw in just 10 minutes. The innings between R Praggnanandhaa and Sindarov Javokhir ended in a draw. Arjun Irigaisi and Vokhidov Shamsiddin’s innings also remained tied.

Vidit Gujarathi and Vakhidov Jakhongir secures fourth position

Vidit Gujarathi and Vakhidov Jakhongir’s innings ended in a tie at the fourth table in the Chess Olympiad. With all four innings tied, the Indian team has maintained its lead with two points. In the women’s group, the Kazakhstan team managed to defeat the Indian team in the ninth round. Kazakhstan team has reached the top position with 16 points. The Indian team is in second position with 15 points. In the ninth round, India faced the US team. The match was tied at 2-2. 

It was decided to rest Harika Dronavalli in this match. R Vaishali got a chance to play at the first table. However, Vaishali lost to Tokhirjonova Gulrukhbegim. The match between Divya Deshmukh and Yip Carissa at the second table ended in a draw. Vantika Aggarwal defeated Crush Irina to earn the team a full point. At the fourth table, Tania Sachdev and Lee Alice tied the game. So this match between India and America was tied 2-2.
