During the Summer of 2024, Jurgen Klopp announced his retirement from the position of a professional football coach. Around 2 months after he announced his decision to hang his boots, Jurgen Klopp might finally get his flowers for his excellent performances as the Liverpool coach. And this comes from a very unlikely source. That source is Klopp’s long-time rival and former Bayern Munich & Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola and the club he is at the helm of currently, Manchester City.
As anyone who follows the Premier League probably already knows, Manchester City are currently fighting in court to defend the allegations of them having a total of 115 charges regarding financial fair play (FFP). The court case got underway this week and there has already been news which could be utmost detrimental to the Legacy of the Manchester Club and Pep Guardiola, who is often considered as one of the best managers in football ever. At the same time, this news could be as sweet as sugar to Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool fans.
The Following reprimands have been proposed by the opposition’s legal team against Manchester City:
- Firstly, Manchester City may be Relegated
- Up to a total of 3 Titles will be stripped off Pep Guardiola and his men
- There will be a points deduction across seasons where unfair financial play is detected
- Man City and all parties involved in the wrongdoing will face a heavy fine
- There will most likely be a Patent
So how does any of this concern Jurgen Klopp?
Well, here’s the thing. Say Manchester City are found guilty in the ongoing court trial, they might be stripped of their titles and also have their points deducted in previous seasons. Now, in the last 8 seasons, Manchester City have won the Premier League 7 times. Liverpool is the team which has finished in 2nd the most, that is 2 times. They also managed to pip Manchester City to the Premier League Title under Jurgen Klopp in the 2019/20 season.
If Manchester City are found guilty in those 2 seasons, and points are deducted from their total tally, Jurgen Klopp and his men will be handed over the Premier League titles by the English FA making them the rightful winners of the Title. It’s not as if Jurgen Klopp already doesn’t have a great CV. But 3 Premier Leagues would look even better on his Resume than just 1.
Maybe then finally, people will start realising how good Jurgen Klopp actually was for Liverpool Football Club. That he managed to battle it out with a cheating Man City board and Pep Guardiola who had an unfair financial advantage. What do you think? Will Pep Guardiola be caught red-handed with Man City? If yes, will Klopp finally get the respect he deserves? Let us know in the comments below.
