Zomato partners with PCI to spotlight the para-athletes in Paris Paralympics 2024

The Paris Paralympics 2024 has already made its mark. There will be over 4,000 athletes competing in 22 sports events. 84 Indian athletes have been competing in ongoing events. The nation has already started winning medals. India so far has won 7 medals in the multinational event with one gold, two silver, and four bronze.  The nation is hoping to overtake Tokyo’s number which was 19 medals.

Amidst all this Zomato, the food delivery giant, has taken a major step in supporting Indian athletes. They are partnering with the Paralympic Council of India for the event. They are launching a series of impactful social media campaigns, print advertisements, and hoardings across the country. These efforts are made to bring national attention to the remarkable athletes who have shown strong determination, and excellence.

This partnership comes after an inspiring story of a delivery partner named Sandip Sargar. The former delivery partner’s journey is nothing short of a fairytale. From navigating the busy streets as a delivery partner to competing in the Paris Paralympics javelin throw. His story is a great example of resilience and the notion that dreams can be achieved. His amazing journey has been shared through a video showing the dedication and hard work that took him from a life of daily hardships to representing India in the Paralympics.

Zomato highlights the Indian para-athletes’ journey

In another Instagram video, Zomato highlights other members of the contingent and tells us about their sports, urging us not to judge them based on their ‘Bholi Surat’ or innocent faces since they are the very best when they are at their peak. The film features Indian high jumper Mariyappam Thangavelu, shooter Avni Lekhra, badminton player Sheetal Devi, javelin thrower Sumit Antil, and badminton player Manshi Joshi.

This Zomato campaign features some great people who were formerly thought to be confined by society. However, have repeatedly proven society wrong. The videos have struck the emotional connection of the viewers, demonstrating the transformational power of determination and the value of encouraging athletes who strive for excellence despite all circumstances.
