Erling Haaland makes EPL defenders look like jokers

Erling Haaland has been in breathtaking form. The Norwegian has once again started with his goal-scoring habit in the English Premier League (EPL) 2024/25 season. He is again leading the charge of the Golden Boot with 7 goals in three games for Manchester City. The No.9 since his joining has changed the fortunes of the club. They won the UEFA Champions League for the first time after he joined.

The Fox in the Box has been in the Premier League for two seasons. He had struggled with niggles last season. While he was still the league’s top scorer with 27 goals. He won the Golden Boot for the second time after winning it in his debut season with 36 goals in a season for the club. Back to Back, the leading goal scorer in the toughest league of club football has been the bread and butter for the former Borussia Dortmund striker.

Despite a rough patch last season, he is back to his very best. Haaland has scored back to back to hattricks in the league once again. It was the 24-year-old’s 11th hat trick for the Sky Blues. After this he became just the second player in Premier League history, to twice score hat tricks in consecutive games after former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

Erling Haaland only scores against small clubs

Is he making the defenders look like jokers or just scores against smaller opponents? Haaland scored his first hattrick against Crystal Palace. His third match ball was against a big team, arch-rival Manchester United. So far he has 70th Premier League goal in his 69 games for the club. The finisher has struggled against the big clubs failing to impress in big and crucial games for the side.

However, nothing is taken away from him he has always been dangerous in the six yards. Haaland also stands equalling the record of former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero’s most hattrick record in PL history. The Argentine has 12 match balls and the Norway forward has 11. City’s No.9 has the chance of surpassing and creating new records as well.
